The Last Week
An interrupted week. Easter saw the usual reduction in trading days in Norway and Europe. Unsurprisingly after the Easter demand pricing came off. Tuesday saw us pretty level from the prior week closing out levels, down 0.84 NOK on Tuesday pricing at 87.14. The following two sessions saw drops to 84.24 on Wednesday and 80.24 on Thursday respectively, so a 7.2% drop over two days as orders reduced and unsold fish remained.
The FX rate was less volatile this week with a clear and even trend down from 11.25 levels to 11.12 over the last 4 trading sessions.
Spreads are showing around 4 NOK 3-6s and consistent over the last 3 sessions with 5/6s slightly higher in the mix.
Next Week
Early indications for next week are coming in at the 76.5 NOK level for the index, a significant drop on last week close yesterday of 80.84, and a long way off prices at the beginning of last week (87 NOK levels). Unsold fish last week and plenty of volume this week especially in the larger sizes and prices are dropping. Orders are being delayed as buyer see where pricing ends up and large fish heavily discounted as logistics costs escalate to Asia.
The EUR NOK FX rate is this afternoon is around the 11.14 level having rebounded off its low of 11.095 level earlier today.
This makes the price in Euro’s around 6.87 FCA Oslo this afternoon.

FAQ’s
Q. How do I know I’m getting the best price?
A. A good question. The best price might be described better as the right price, taking into account your volumes, delivery dates and specifications. The only clear way to achieve this is to have offers from as many companies as possible and co-ordinate this, to build up the price development picture and lastly to have a refence or benchmark price to provide guidance on the current market prices and activity. It’s called a market or an exchange and it is the only independent way you can secure and evidence the right price when you trade.
