The Last Week
The chart resembled a smile for the trading week, albeit a small one. Friday opened at 72.98 down 3.16 NOK or -4.15% with negative sentiment around the market. While we didn’t see huge volatility the market was off a further 0.6 NOK on Monday and a whole 1 NOK on Tuesday as the market bottomed at the 71.13 level offered. Wednesday was flat if up small, and Thursday got us back to 72.24 matching Mondays level. There was a technical support level around the 72.82 as noted in last week’s technical analysis.
The FX rate continued to head south for most of the week meaning further NOK strength and more expensive fish in EUR terms. The rate hit a high on Friday of 10.85 and broadly came off all week to Thursday’s close level of 10.72.
Average spreads 3-6 have come in to less than 2 NOK by the end of the week, with the smaller fish showing only a small difference between them 71.67 vs 71.79 (3-4 vs 4-5).
Next Week
Indications for next week are coming in at around 74.69 NOK Friday offered levels for the index, which is a little above last week’s (yesterday) close of 72.24. Availability remains good again. Another 4 day week because of Whitsun. Feeling is not really confident that this level will hold, but we’ll see.
Spreads are around 2 NOK between 3-6s evenly spread.
The EUR NOK FX rate is this afternoon is around the 10.74 level having picked up from its lows earlier today down at 10.715. This makes the price in Euro’s around 6.95 FCA Oslo this afternoon.

FAQ’s
Q. How does your weekly pricing change work?
A. The index is a useful tool for overall pricing as well as tracking intra week volatility and we calculate and publish the index every day. We report the weekly change based on the change from the previous Thursday – effectively that week’s close to the Thursday of that following week. This gives an accurate measure of the actual change week on week, especially useful when pricing has gapped between the Thursday close and Friday pricing. The index will show how it changed during that week, capturing the opening levels as prices and sales are pushed at the start of the week and where it ends up, and is a useful indication of intra week sentiment.
